Level 1 (Introduction to Flamenco Dance)

For new students new to Flamenco. There is a focus on posture, arm movement, basic compas and llamadas.
About what to wear…
Q: What should I wear?
A: Please wear comfortable pants and a close fitting shirt. Women do not need to wear a skirt in the beginning level class.
Q: What about shoes?
A: Flamenco shoes are an investment. We recommend trying some classes before investing in shoes. For women, wear any comfortable shoe thathas a heel and a hard sole. Boots or Character shoes work well. Formen, wear a dress shoe or a shoe that has a hard sole and adifferentiation between the sole and the heel. If you decide to investin shoes, we have some available at our location for purchase. Opentoe shoes or sandals are not recommended.

Level 2 (Sevillanas)

This intermediate level class has a strong focus on paseo, palmas, and jaleo. Students will move through instructed and original choreography.Sevillana is a popular flamenco-style dance from Seville. Its rhythm is 3/4 or better 6/8.

Level 3 (Fandango de Huelva)

This Advanced-Intermediate level class will focus on dancing to Cante (singing) and or dancing solo to longer choreographies.Fandango: a popular song and dance form related to Sevillanas. Spanish folk dance of Andalucia, 3/4 time.

Level 4 (Solea por Buleria)

This advanced class continues to focus on dancing to Cante and features long choreography routines. Soleares: a form of cante jondo, from the word soledad: solitude, privacy. It expresses deep sadness and loneliness, and is danced in 12/8 time. This is an essential addition to every Flamenco dancer’s repertoire!
